1992 set Plans to Mark Silver Jubilee with a Football Field for BFHS

The 1992 set is developing a Football Pitch for Birch Freeman High School in celebration of their Silver Jubilee (25 years graduation from BFHS).

The pitch will be commissioned at the 2017 Annual Homecoming Ball on Saturday 29th April 2017. Old boys at home and abroad are invited to witness this amazing gift of love to BFHS.

BIFOBA’s Executive Council (Exco) wishes to inform alumni across the globe about details of our school’s 57th Founders’ Day Anniversary coming up on Monday 6th of February 2017.

Event:                         Public lecture to be delivered by a guest speaker

Topic:                         “Getting the Best Out of Students: – My Experience”

Speaker:                     Mrs. Oluwayemisi Omowo (a renowned educationist and former vice principal of Birch Freeman High School)

Guest of Honour:       Dr. (Mrs.) Oluranti Adebule (Deputy Governor/Commissioner of Education), Lagos State

Other Highlights:      

 Prize-Giving/Awards for outstanding/deserving students

  • Short sermon by clergy of the Methodist Mission
  • Teachers’ appreciation through issuance of Gifts/Awards
  • Announcement of Lifetime Endowment (for Prizes) by some old boys

Venue        BFHS Multi-Purpose Auditorium

Time          9:30 am till 1:00 pm

Attendees  All old boys, select members of the Public, Lagos State Education Ministry Officials, members of BFHS’ Teaching Staff, members of BFHS’ Parent Forum, Members of Electronic and Print Media

For the Prize-Giving/Awards, Exco is appealing to old boys to sponsor prizes for different subjects or good behavioural patterns e.g. cleanliness, punctuality at school, exceptional good behaviour, outstanding innovation etc. Prizes will bear the names of sponsors, which will be announced during the awards.

Sponsors can have their donations converted into endowments if they sponsor a minimum amount of prize worth N20,000.00 and are willing to do same annually for the rest of their lives.

ndowments can be in the names of the old boys, their parents (whether alive or late or other loved ones which could also include a teacher or anybody who has made an impact on the old boys’ lives).

Old boys are reminded that the 6th February event is an “Official” BIFOBA’s event where members of the public are invited as Guests; consequently, members who have the old BIFOBA Blazer are expected to attend the event, putting on the Blazers while those who are yet to receive the new set of Blazers should please attend in the formal Corporate/Business attires.

Late Mr. Cornelius Padonu Funeral Service

On Friday, November 17, 2017, Elder Cornelius Taiwo Padonu was laid to rest at Atan Cemetary in Sabo, Lagos.

The late Mr. Padonu was of the 1966 set and a member of Soremekun House. He was the 3rd BIFOBA (National) President who took over the mantle of leadership from the late Prince Olu Orefajo. He was admitted to the Prestigious BIFOBA Guild of Awardees in April 2017 at the National Homecoming Ball held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Mr. Padonu died at age 71. He is the first recipient of the celebrated BIFOBA Funeral Tradition ceremony, where his wife was presented BIFOBA flag and his Guild of Awardees medal.
